Katie's Quartet.@ - A sort of scaled down The Old Hat Dance Band. Katie Howson (one row melodean), John Howson (banjo), Reg Reader (hammer dulcimer) and Ron Neal (cello). Based in East Anglia.

Kilbride, Pat. A guitarist from Ireland, he has worked extensivly in England (inc The Battlefield Band) and Europe and now lives in the US. Material ranges from Child Ballads to Sting.

Kinnaird, Alison. Scottish harp player, with Keith Sanger she co-wrote Tree of Strings (Kinmor Music 1993) a history of the Harp in Scotland. Also The Lothian Collection - 25 tunes from the great houses of the Lothians arraged for the Scottich Harp by AK isbn 0-95112404-8-4. She had also performed with the Battlefield Band, and as duo's with Ann Heymann and Christine Primrose.

Kipper, Sid. Folk comedy/parody set aginst a background of on the Norfolk village of "Trunch". (96)

Kirkpatrick, John. @   b 1947. Various Sqeezeboxes. Has been in Steeleye Span and the Albion Band, and a dancer with Hammersmith Morris Men. Married for a time to Sue Harris. Lead musical in Umps And Dumps, broadcaster and solo musician. Has also done session work for Richardd Thompson, Gerry Rafferty and Tim Hart.

Knapp, William. 1698-1768, b (possibly) Wareham, Dorset. Glover by trade. Parish Clerk of Poole 1728. Composer of music for country church choirs (voices only, mostly four part) comprising stophic setings of metrical texts and anthems to biblica texts. Although Knapp's work was published and reprinted transmission was also oral. West Gallery is the term now used to describe country church singing from the18th century, before church bands were widespread. The style is suited to ammendmet to suit voices available, re-assigning parts, solos in unison were common practice. see Christminster Singers.

Knightley, Steve. b Southampton, moved to Devon at 5. and at 14 was playing folk clubs and bars around Exeter. Steve was first attracted to accoustic music by early Baez and Dylan records. He studied politics and history in Coventry, where he met Downes & Beer, then performing together and they used some of Steve's songs. After a postgrad certificate in education at Sussex University and six years in London involved in mainstream music, he moved to Dorset, working with Phil Beer while Phil was still with the Albion Band and later to form Show of Hands.
